University Support and Entrepreneurial Resilience: A Cross-Cultural Comparison of Indonesia and Hungary

This study examines how sociocultural perceptions and educational systems shape entrepreneurial resilience among university students in Indonesia and Hungary. Using a cross-sectional comparative design, 200 students (100 per country) completed validated Likert-scale instruments, and Mann–Whitney U tests were applied. Results reveal five significant divergences and four points of convergence. Indonesian students scored significantly higher on self-reliance, resilience, perceived contextual support, and university knowledge provision. Hungarian students showed stronger career-within-major intention. Workplace atmosphere, autonomy at work, optimism about future advancement, and the demand for detailed instructions did not differ significantly. These patterns support an interactional reading of cross-cultural entrepreneurship theory: entrepreneurial resilience is cultivated through the interaction of cultural orientation and institutional scaffolding rather than determined by culture alone. Implications are offered for culturally responsive entrepreneurship curricula and cross-sector ecosystem policy.
