Pupil/teacher ratio in primary education in France and in the OECD 2013-2020

Between 2013 and 2020, the average number of pupils in primary schools per teacher decreased slightly in France, from 19.68 pupils to 18.42. However, this ratio is still higher than the OECD average, which was almost four points lower in 2020. In addition, the number of students per teacher in the OECD has also been declining since 2013, from 15.14 to 14.76.In 2022, there were over 370,400 primary school teachers in France.
