Burkholderia cepacia complex outbreak originating from contaminated washing gloves, Switzerland, 2019

We report a local outbreak of Burkholderia cepacia complex (BCC) originating from contaminated washing gloves in a tertiary care centre in southern Switzerland. An outbreak investigation was triggered after identification of BCC in two clinical isolates from two patients in May 2019. The relatedness of the first two cases with the washing gloves isolates was confirmed by whole genome sequencing.
