Dataset of partial gene sequence of new-to-nature microbial species identified in a normal mouse gut microbiome

Metagenomics is a rich source of genetic information for new-to-nature species, especially those of microbial in origin. This comes about due to the comprehensive profiling capabilities of modern high throughput sequencing aided shotgun metagenomics. This dataset catalogues the partial genetic sequences of 21 new-to-species microbes profiled in a normal mouse gut microbiome. Preliminary BLAST search of these sequences reveals no similarities to entries in Genbank, and thus, could be suitably classified as new-to-nature. Overall, this dataset should be useful for microbial ecologists to further their understanding of the microbe-microbe interactions in the mouse gut.
