Site 45KI724, located near Carnation, Washington, is a stratified, multi-component
prehistoric site. Situated on a natural levee on the right bank of the Snoqualmie River, this site
currently lies beneath a paved roadway and extends into the road shoulder. Although the site is
prehistoric, it is probably less than 2000 years old. No dates are currently available. Pollen
analysis of stratigraphic sediments was undertaken to characterize the local vegetation during
the time period represented by these sediments. In addition, pollen and FTIR analysis were
conducted on sediments from two features in an effort to identify economic activity at this site.
