The strains for lytic activity of ClyU

To address multidrug-resistant S. zooepidemicus mastitis, we engineered ClyU, a chimeric lysin fusing the Ply30 catalytic and Ply1228 binding domains. ClyU exhibited robust stability and superior bactericidal activity against S. zooepidemicus, S. equi, and S. suis in vitro. In a murine model, ClyU treatment significantly reduced bacterial burdens and inflammation without eliciting toxicity or resistance. These findings position ClyU as a potent, stable, and safe therapeutic candidate for the dairy industry.
