Virgibacillus sp. AGTR Genome sequencing and assembly

Lake Acigol is a hypersaline playa lake located in between Afyon, Denizli, and Burdur city boundaries in the Aegean region. Lake Acigol is considered an extreme environment due to its high salt and alkali properties. Extreme environments have a big potential for the discovery of new species, new metabolites, novel enzymes, and metabolic pathways of organisms. In this study, functional-based screening approach is used to isolate potential biotechnological novel enzymes from Lake Acigol. Virgibacillus sp. AGTR strain has been isolated in studies conducted in line with this goal.
