资源简介:
Fill from a partial stone ring and from a possible hearth in the center of a complete stone
ring at site 32ML823 in central North Dakota were floated to recover macrofloral remains.
Charcoal recovered from the two macrofloral samples and charcoal from the partial stone ring
were submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating. Macrofloral analysis is used to determine plant
resources utilized by the occupants of this stone circle site, while radiocarbon dates provide
temporal information. Besant projectile points and fragments suggest a Besant or near Besant
occupation, approximately 400-200 BC and spanning until AD 1200. Six lithic tools from the two
features were analyzed for possible protein residues to determine animals that might have been
hunted or processed using these tools.
