RNA-sequencing of human monocytes from subjects over 42h under a constant routine protocol

The goal of the present study is to develop an objective and simple assay to determine internal circadian time of humans for both clinical and research use (BodyTime assay). Specifically, we aim to accurately quantify the phase of entrainment (also called chronotype) of humans using multiplex gene expression profiling. To establish a validated test, we followed a three-phase biomarker development strategy (Goossens et al., 2015), the first step of which is an unbiased discovery of biomarkers (i.e. time-telling genes) using a large-content platform (RNA-Seq).
