The Progression of Virtues (PV): Sequencing and Growth in Virtue Development

This project investigates the Progression of Virtues (PV) model, which proposes that character virtues emerge in a necessary sequence and compound across stages to produce persistent altruism. The PV model specifies that humility enables honesty; humility and honesty together yield compassion; compassion obligates responsibility; responsibility requires courage; and these culminate in heroism understood as daily, self-sacrificial altruism. When attempted out of sequence, virtues collapse into distortions (e.g., compassion without honesty becomes sentimentality; courage without responsibility becomes bravado).
