STUDY OF A COMPLETE SAMPLE OF BROAD LINE RADIO GALAXIES

We propose to pursue the spectral survey of Broad Line Radio Galaxies proposedin AO1 through the observation of 2 new sources. Previous Xray observationshave shown that in BLRGs iron lines and reflections are weaker than in Seyfert1s. This result suggests that either: 1) a nonthermal continuum possiblyassociated with the core radiation emission dilutes the Seyfertlike emission;or 2) the physical conditions of the accretion flow in radioloud type I AGNsare different. Our first XMMNewton observation (Pictor A) has revealed a coldnarrow iron line and a very small UV bump, confirming the discrepancy with aSeyfertlike picture. More XMMNewton observations are necessary to definitivelyestablish the physical geometrical reasons of the BLRGSeyfert 1 differences. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
