Pathogenicity and antibiotic resistance genes profile among Salmonella Typhimurium isolated from Chicken and swine carcasses in two distinct geographical regions from Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil

Salmonella Typhimurium (ST) is a surveyed worldwide serotype with its genome well characterized within several different strains. In Brazil, very few studies have submitted the complete genome sequence of S, Typhimurium to Web genome sequences databases. Moreover, in Rio de Janeiro State, the Whole Genome Sequence to genotype ST strains remains unpublished. We previously isolated several ST strains from swine and chicken carcasses from two totally distinct geographical regions in Rio de Janeiro State and then selected two representative strains to genotype and analyze the genetic differences in terms of the Salmonella Pathogenicity Islands – SPI´s genes and also antibiotic resistance genes profile.
