Survey of Persons Not in the Labour Force, 1992 [Canada]

The Survey of Persons Not In the Labour Force was designed to augment the limited amount of information collected on persons who were neither employed nor unemployed. The major objectives of the survey were to collect information on the past and planned labour market activities of persons not presently in the labour force, and on their current non-labour market activities and sources of financial support. In addition to obtaining information on the activities of all persons not in the labour force, further information was sought for youths who were neither in school nor employed and for retired persons. For youths, information was sought on their school plans, and, for those who were retired, information was collected on the circumstances surrounding the decision to retire. The Survey of Persons Not In the Labour Force was administered in November,1992 to a sub-sample of the dwellings in the Labour Force Survey (LFS) sample,and therefore its sample design is closely tied to that of the LFS.
