The small intestine (SI) is the first site of absorption for life-sustaining nutrients and a gateway for external pathogens and toxins. Diet enables the host to initiate the SI absorptive machinery, while maintaining the barrier activity and a strict immune homeostasis. To uncover the role of epithelial GSDMD in SI physiology, we conditionally deleted Gsdmd in intestinal epithelial cells by generating Villin-cre+; Gsdmdf/f (GsdmdIEC) mice
