Xenopus laevis can regenerate their optic nerves after injury. We developed a novel laser injury model to reproducibly transect the optic nerve of tadpoles and monitor their regeneration. Our objective was to study changes in transcription in injured versus contralateral optic nerves and retinas at day 3 following laser transection.
