Pogona vitticeps Transcriptome or Gene expression

Hibernation is a physiological state exploited by many organisms exposed to prolonged adverse environmental conditions. Large changes in metabolism and cellular function occur, with many stress responses modulated to tolerate physiological challenges that might otherwise be lethal. Here we examine hibernation in a reptile (the central bearded dragon; Pogona vitticeps) using mRNA-seq to profile gene expression in brain, heart and skeletal muscle from animals at late hibernation, two days post-arousal and two months post-arousal.
