资源简介:
Three pollen and three soil samples from an Archaic encampment
(5EA484) near Basalt in Eagle County were submitted for analysis. Site
5EA484 is located in a pinon/juniper forest at an elevation of 6810 feet
along a bench above Blue Creek in the Roaring Fork River Valley in west central
Colorado. The pollen samples were taken from the present ground
surface, from the fill of a slab-lined roasting pit or firehearth (F eature 2),
and from a layer 20 cm below the present surface. The soil samples
represent an unlined firehearth (F eature 1) and two slab-lined roasting
pits or firehearths (F eatures 2 and 5). Unfortunately, the only feature (F.
2) that was sampled for both pollen and macrofossil content contained an
insufficient quantity of pollen for analysis. It was hoped that these two
analyses would reflect prehistoric subsistence patterns.
