THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INTERNATIONAL LEGAL MECHANISMS IN PREVENTING AND COMBATING ILLEGAL MIGRATION

Illegal migration remains one of the most pressing global challenges, affecting national security, human rights, economic stability, and international cooperation. This study examines the effectiveness of international legal mechanisms in preventing and combating illegal migration by analyzing key international conventions, regional agreements, and the activities of international organizations. The research evaluates the implementation of international migration law, identifies existing legal and institutional challenges, and assesses the role of states in ensuring effective migration governance. The findings indicate that although international legal instruments provide a comprehensive framework for addressing illegal migration, their effectiveness is often limited by inconsistent implementation, insufficient international cooperation, and differences in national migration policies.
