Demented and NonDemented Brain MRI Dataset for Alzheimer's Disease Detection

The dataset used in this research consists of MRI brain images for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia detection. The dataset contains two classes: Demented and NonDemented. The Demented class contains 11,200 MRI images representing subjects with dementia-related conditions, while the NonDemented class contains 12,800 MRI images representing cognitively normal subjects without signs of dementia.

All images are provided in JPG format and are skull-stripped to remove non-brain tissues, making them suitable for medical image analysis and deep learning applications. The dataset is used for training, validation, and testing of deep learning models for automated dementia detection and classification.

This dataset is derived and reorganized from the original Alzheimer’s disease MRI dataset developed for clinical dementia analysis and severity classification studies. Proper acknowledgment is given to the original dataset creators and contributors for providing the MRI imaging resources used in this work.
