Isolates were grown in light-dark cycles under replete, nitrogen and iron limiting conditions. Cells were collected in dark, light conditions and pooled on polycarbonate filters.Diatom isolates included belong to the genera Thalassiosira, Planktoniella, Nitzschia, etc. Haptophyte isolates of the genera Gephyrocapsa and Phaeocystis, Dinoflagellate of the genera Prorocentrum.
