资源简介:
When a Crown Grant was made, the deeds to the land had to be prepared by the Lands Branch of the Colonial Secretary's Office. These deeds then had to be registered by the Supreme Court of Victoria to protect the title prior to the introduction of the Torrens system in 1862. Once the deeds were registered, lists were then returned to the Colonial Secretary's Office indicating that this had been done. From there, deeds would be forwarded to the Colonial Treasury. Once standard fees had been paid, the deeds would then be delivered to their owners. The stages in this process may be seen in the entries in VPRS 11866 Register of Crown Grants. This series consists of lists of deeds returned to the Colonial Secretary's Office by the Supreme Court. Details given are usually the name of the grantee, the area of the land and the parish or township where it was situated.VPRS 13859 / P1 was previously registered as Unit 212 of VPRS 406 / P Register of Deeds.
