18S rRNA gene (pico- and nanoplankton fractions) from the Blanes Bay Microbial Observatory (BBMO), sampled between 2013 and 2016

This study includes 18S rRNA gene sequences (V4 region) obtained from pico- and nanoplankton collected at the Blanes Bay Microbial Observatory (BBMO). Samples were collected monthly during April–December 2013, throughout 2014 and 2015, and from January to June 2016. PCR amplification was performed using the Stoeck primers TAReukFWD1 (5'-CCAGCASCYGCGGTAATTCC-3') and TAReukREV3 (5'-ACTTTCGTTCTTGATYRA-3'), which amplify an approximately 380 bp fragment of the 18S rRNA gene and target eukaryotic microorganisms (Stoeck et al. 2010). The dataset comprises 40 samples from the picoplankton fraction and 41 samples from the nanoplankton fraction. All samples correspond to surface waters.
