This thesis investigates how smart materials can be designed to respond to light. The research focuses on azobenzene, a molecule that changes shape when exposed to light. By carefully adjusting its structure, new surfactants and polymer capsules were created that can assemble, reorganize, and change their behaviour. These materials can control liquid thickness or release substances when triggered by light. The work shows how tiny molecular interactions influence large-scale material properties. This understanding helps develop more efficient and sustainable materials for future applications in household products, healthcare, and controlled delivery systems.
