Microbiome comparisons were based on the Bray-Curtis dissimilarity metric. Mussel species are Cyclonaias asperata, Fusconaia cerina, Lampsilis ornata, and Obovaria unicolor and the six sites cover a ~50 km stretch of the river, numbered from upstream to downstream.
