This study examines optical properties and the variability of the mass absorption coefficient of carbonaceous aerosols produced by the combustion of different fuels. Experiments, conducted in an atmospheric simulation chamber, tested different methods of sampling and analyzing carbonaceous aerosols, with a focus on workplace environments. The dataset includes: • Continuous monitoring data of temperature, pressure, and humidity in ChAMBRe during each experiment. • Particle concentration and size distribution measured inside ChAMBRe using an SMPS. • Soot particle absorption coefficients (babs) at 870 nm from online measurements using a PAX from Droplet Measurement Technologies. • Soot particle absorption coefficients (babs) at 635 nm from online measurements using a Giano_BC1 from Dadolab srl. • Soot particle absorption coefficients (babs) from offline MWAA analysis at 635 and 850 nm on sampled filters. • EC and OC mass concentrations determined by TOT analysis using a Sunset EC/OC analyzer and the NIOSH 5040 protocol.
