Maternal transfer of gut microbes in different combinations of B6 and Balb/c crosses

This study investigates the transmission of microbial populations from mothers to offspring in 3 day old neonates and six week old adults. We analyzed microbes in the stool of B6 mice born to B6 mothers, B6 mice cross-fostered at birth by Balb/c mothers, Balb/c mice born to Balb/c mothers, Balb/c mice cross-fostered at birth by B6 mothers, F1 mice (resulting from B6 x Balb/c breeding) born to B6 mothers, and F1 mice (resulting from B6 x Balb/c breeding) born to Balb/c mothers.
