Phage hunting was conducted with sewage influent from Southern California water against the opportunistic pathogen Stenotrophomonas maltiophilia (STM), strain B28B. Phages were isolated and sequenced to investigate genomic and kinetic profiles for potential therapeutic applications. A multi-phage cocktail was developed with genetically distinct phages to (1) understand the impact on host bacteria B28B and (2) assess the host range on a cohort of clinically relevant STM strains.
