Reach-scale and watershed-scale input data for geodiversity-biodiversity analysis of CONUS freshwater fish

This dataset contains the primary input data used to examine relationships between geodiversity (physical habitat heterogeneity) and freshwater fish biodiversity across the conterminous United States (CONUS) at two spatial scales: stream reaches (NHDPlus COMID) and watersheds (HUC08). Contents:1. reachScaleData.csv — Reach-scale geophysical predictor variables for ~12,400 NHDPlus stream reaches, including Strahler stream order, drainage area, slope, hydrologic class, temperature class, confinement class, upstream/downstream class diversity metrics, ecoregion, net primary production, and anthropogenic disturbance index.2. agap_fish_dataset_v2_0.csv — Fish species occurrence (presence/absence) records from the AGAP database at ~35,900 sampling events, compiled from USGS NAQWA, USGS BioData, and state agency sources.3. species_list_v2_0.csv — Cross-reference table mapping ITIS TSN codes to common and scientific names for all fish species in the AGAP dataset.4. Reach_variable_descriptions.xlsx — Variable-level metadata describing all columns in reachScaleData.csv, including data types, model roles, and measurement units.5. geophysical.gdb — Esri file geodatabase containing geophysical spatial data layers used for stream flowline feature extraction.6. HydroBio Dataset Download.zip — ORNL HydroBio dataset providing HUC08-scale freshwater biodiversity response variables (fish, mussel, and crayfish species richness; IUCN threat status; rarity-weighted richness) and hydropower infrastructure covariates. These data support the analyses presented in the accompanying manuscript. The reach-scale data were used to compute alpha and beta diversity and fit reach-level diversity models. The watershed-scale HydroBio data served as biodiversity targets for XGBoost + SHAP machine learning analysis relating freshwater biodiversity to geodiversity metrics.
