A safety region in the Netherlands is an area in which various administrations and services cooperate with regard to tasks in the fields of fire service, disaster management, crisis management, medical assistance in Accidents and Disaster (GHOR) and maintenance of public order and security. For this purpose, a classification corresponding to that of the police regions and also fire-fighting regions is maintained. The cooperation is based on the Common Regulations Act (WGR).
