XMM-Newton Observations of Unidentified High Latitude Fermi Sources

We propose to observe with XMMNewton a selected set of 7 FermiLAT observedhigh galactic latitude gammaray sources that as yet have no identifiedcounterparts in any other energy range. These sources have been detected by theFermiLAT with high confidence and are either active galactic nuclei, galacticpulsars, or an asyet unidentified new class of gammaray sources. The proposedobservations are for 20 ks per source covering the FermiLAT source errorregion. We will determine the Xray flux for any sources detected by XMMNewtonwithin the FermiLAT region, and characterize the source spectra and temporalproperties in the 0.210 keV energy band for these sources.
