Transcriptomic profile of normal and heart oedematose Eurasian perch larvae

This project investigates the molecular basis of heart oedema, a lethal deformity observed in newly hatched Eurasian perch (Perca fluviatilis) larvae. Using whole-body RNA sequencing, we compared transcriptomes of larvae displaying heart oedema with their normally developed siblings. The study identified thousands of differentially expressed genes, including candidates involved in glucose metabolism, oxygen transport, cardiac development, and vascular integrity. The dataset provides a resource for understanding early developmental anomalies and for identifying potential biomarkers of larval deformities in aquaculture.
