Molecular Sequencing of Fusion gene of Newcastle Disease virus

Newcastle disease (ND) is an infectious, highly contagious and destructive viral disease of poultry and controlled by vaccination. In spite of vaccination, incidence of ND was reported in commercial layers & broilers with gastrointestinal lesions. The amino acid sequence of F protein proteolytic cleavage site is determinant of virus pathogenicity in birds. The F protein cleavage is necessary for viral entry into host cells and cell to cell fusion. The sequencing of wild type virus F gene is important in such a way that velogenic type virus shall be homologous to vaccinal strain.
