The Registers of applications for auctioneers’, hawkers’, coach, and other licenses dealt with by the Bench of Magistrates record such information as: the number of the application, the date of hearing, the name of applicant, the country they are native to, the nature of the licence applied for, the result of the application and the signature of the Magistrate.The volume dating from 1943 to 1979 give the following title to each page: Record of applications for auctioneers, hawkers, pawnbrokers, second-hand dealers, collectors, Sunday trading, and other licenses dealt with by the Bench of Magistrates or the Clerk of Petty Sessions.These registers are parts of volumes also containing memorandums of cases committed for trial, a record of cases dealt with under the “First Offenders'” provisions of the Crimes Act, lists of furniture in the court house, and lists of the law books at the court house.
