Development of waste qualities for co-incineration.

Every year, more than one million tonnes of waste are used as substitute fuels in Austrian waste co-incineration plants. These plants include power plants, energy plants in the paper and pulp production, in the clamping plate production and plants for cement production. This report examines the evolution of the quality of four selected wastes for co-incineration in 2015-2020. The pollutants examined are those that need to be analysed in order to produce the necessary assessment evidence: Antimony, arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, nickel and mercury. Over the period under review, no statistically significant increase in heavy metals was found in the four wastes under review. However, a decreasing trend was observed for individual wastes for individual metals.
