River water microcosms were incubated at 20ðC, at 28ðC (constant thermal disturbance emulating global temperature increase) and under repeated thermal disturbances (intervals of 3 days at 20ðC and 4 days at 28ðC emulating heatwaves) for 28 days. Metagenomes were sequenced after 0, 14 and 28 incubation days (n=23).
