Nasal excretion of CA/04/09 and CAN01/04 in double-vaccinated mini-pigs.

Two weeks after the last vaccination with a-CAN01/04 or RgCA/04/09xPR8 (7.5 µg/dose HA), 2-dose group mini-pigs received 1.0 ml 105 TCID50 CA/04/09 virus challenge i.n. Nasal swabs were collected at 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 dpi. Transmission of the test virus through the air was also monitored in a similar set-up done in ferrets. Virus titers were calculated in embryonated chicken eggs (log10 EID50/ml) and the limit of virus detection was set to 0.7 log10 EID50/ml.
