Geospatial Data Supporting "Beyond Marginality: Geo-Risk, Climatic Variability, and Early Settlement Strategies in the Volcanic Landscape of Doğubayazıt (Eastern Anatolia, Türkiye)"

This repository provides the geospatial datasets developed and used in support of the manuscript "Beyond Marginality: Geo-Risk, Climatic Variability, and Early Settlement Strategies in the Volcanic Landscape of Doğubayazıt (Eastern Anatolia, Türkiye)". The dataset documents the spatial evidence underlying analyses of long-term settlement dynamics within the volcanic landscape of the Doğubayazıt Basin, Eastern Anatolia. It integrates archaeological, geomorphological, palaeoclimatic, and topographic datasets used to investigate the relationships among climatic variability, persistent geomorphological constraints, and settlement organization from the Middle–Late Chalcolithic to the Middle Iron Age (ca. 6500–2600 BP). The repository includes derived raster products (Climate Stability Index, climate anomaly maps, and a Digital Elevation Model) together with vector datasets representing archaeological sites, lava surfaces, active faults, landslides, wetlands, hydrology, and the study area boundary. All datasets are provided in standard GIS formats to facilitate transparency, reproducibility, and the reuse of the spatial analyses presented in the associated publication. The Climate Stability Index (CSI) and climate anomaly datasets were derived from the publicly available CHELSA-TraCE21k-centennial-bioclim dataset. The original CHELSA-TraCE21k climate data are not redistributed in this repository; only the derived products generated for this study are included. A detailed description of the datasets, metadata, file structure, coordinate reference system, and recommendations for data reuse are provided in the accompanying README document. Users of these data should cite both this Zenodo dataset and the associated publication.
