The rainfall monitoring station is located atop the building of the Mechanical Engineering College of the Dongguan Institute of Technology (N 22°54′38″, E113°52′50″). The underlying surface of the station is brick pavement without nearby shelter, and the underlying surface within 100 m mostly includes buildings, lawns and trees.To ensure the rainfall intensity monitoring accuracy, rainfall monitoring was conducted by different detection instruments, including a tipping bucket rain gauge with a precision of 0.1 mm and a minimum temporal resolution of 1 minute, a capacitive grating rain gauge with an accuracy of 0.1 mm and a minimum temporal resolution of 1 minute, and a radar rainfall sensor with an accuracy of 0.01 mm and a minimum temporal resolution of 1 second. The data used in this study were retrieved by a WS100 radar rainfall sensor, and there were 30 rainfall events, for a total of 1219 minutes. Considering the systematic deviation of radar monitoring data, the field radar data were corrected according to the capacitive rain gauge data.Rainfall audio data were recorded with a HYV-E130 recorder produced by Hyundai (China), with a sampling frequency of 24000 Hz and a bit rate of 192 kbps.Crowdsourcing data refer to the audio and video data of rainfall events recorded by the volunteers with mobile phones, as well as the corresponding location, recording environment, ground type, rainfall level (volunteer subjective judgement) and other information.
