Leatherback sea turtle (<em>Dermochelys coriacea</em>) presence locations used to generate distribution models in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean

Leatherback sea turtles (Dermochelys coriaces) are a highly migratory species of great conservation concern across the globe. Determining their distributions is important not only for establishing baselines to determine potential effects of altering ocean conditions but also for predicting potential interactions with anthropogenic activities. Here, we assembled a dataset of 82,963 ARGOS and FASTloc GPS locations from 75 leatherbacks tagged with satellite transmitters off the east coast of the United States between 2017 and 2024. These locations have been filtered to exclude instances where the tag prematurely detached.
