The present study was undertaken to determine the effect of the durum wheat mycobiome on pathogens and mycotoxin concentrations in grain, and to examine the causes of necrosis in durum wheat grown after durum wheat. A total of 738,642 high-quality ITS2 sequences were obtained from all grain samples, and a total of 588,257 sequences were obtained from durum wheat stems. The number of OTUs associated with fungal taxa was determined at 114,988-132,992 in grain and at 97,364-140,394 in stems. The percentage of dataset reads assigned to different taxonomic levels, i.e. kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species reached 85.70-99.86% (kingdom), 84.29-99.85% (phylum), 83.67-99.82% (class), 82.04-99.71% (order), 77.83-99.13% (family), 64.21-98.86% (genus), and 57.42-79.42% (species) These values reached 85.70-99.86% (kingdom), 84.29-99.85% (phylum), 83.67-99.82% (class), 82.04-99.71% (order), 77.83-99.13% (family), 64.21-98.86% (genus), and 57.42-79.42% (species).
