We investigated ESBL-producing K. pneumoniae transmission in a Tokyo Medical University Hospital (built in July 2019) surgical ward from July 2019 to February 2020. To investigate the relationships between patient isolates and environmental isolates collected from sinks and drains, whole-genome sequencing and single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis was performed using next-generation sequencing.
