In this study we used scRNA sequencing to compare lung fibroblast and epithelial populations from young and aged mice. We identified enrichment of a NF-kB activation signature in aged relative to young fibroblasts, particularly in the adventitial population. Overall design: Cells were sorted from one 2 month and one 22 month old wildtype (C57BL/6) mouse. Fibroblasts were identified as lineage negative (CD45-Epcam-CD31-) cells. Epithelial cells were identified as CD45-CD31-Epcam+. After sorting these two cell populations were mixed to generate a 70% fibroblast/30% epithelial cell sample for sequencing.
