资源简介:
Pasteurella multocida is a small, gram-negative, non-motile, non-spore forming coccobacillus, facultative anaerobe belonging to the family Pasteurellaceae with bipolar staining features having 0.2-0.4 X 0.6-2.5 mm in size. The pathogen consists of five capsular type A, B, D, E, and F. The bacterial outer membrane forms the interface between host and gram negative bacterial pathogen. It causes haemorrhagic septicaemia and pneumonia in cattle, sheep and goats; fowl cholera in chickens; snuffles in rabbits as well as atrophic rhinitis (AR) and pneumonic pasteurellosis in pigs. It often exists as a commensal in the upper respiratory tracts of many livestock, poultry, and domestic pet species, especially cats and dogs. P. multocida infection in humans is often associated with an animal bite, scratch, or lick. The bacteria may also cross the blood-brain barrier and cause meningitis. Pasteurellosis is a global problem, including India and has been reported from livestock, birds and a wide variety of wild animals. Pneumonic pasteurellosis is responsible for the largest cause of mortality in feedlot animals in which the disease accounts for approximately 30% of the total cattle deaths worldwide.
