28-wk-old ovariectomized female high- and low- capacity running rats (HCR and LCR rats, respectively) were fed a 60 kcal% high-fat diet (HFD) and randomized to one of cages equipped with voluntary running wheels (EX group) or remained in cages without running wheels to serve as sedentary controls (SED group), creating four groups: : 1) HCR-EX (n=8), 2) HCR-SED (n=7), 3) LCR-EX (n=8), 4) LCR-SED (n=7). Cecal digesta were collected after 11-wk of intervention, and genomic DNA was then extracted. PCR amplicon library was generated (16S rRNA gene, V4 region) and Illumina Mi-Seq sequencing was performed.
