Iimbovane Outreach Project: Soil properties

The Iimbovane project implemented a long term biodiversity monitoring programme in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Starting in 2006 the project proposes to continue for 10 years. The project monitors ant assemblages from 33 sites to examine their diversity patterns over large spatial and temporal scales. During 2006 the project also collected soil samples to determine the soil characteristics at the research sites for a better understanding of the soil structure preferences of the ant species present.伊姆博瓦内（Iimbovane）项目在南非西开普省开展了一项长期生物多样性监测计划。该项目于2006年启动，规划总持续时长为10年。项目对33个监测位点的蚂蚁群落进行观测，以探究其在大空间及时间尺度下的多样性分布格局。2006年期间，项目组还采集了各研究样地的土壤样本，以测定研究区域的土壤特性，进而深入了解现存蚂蚁物种对土壤结构的偏好。
