资源简介:
Samples from columns at several sites within Phillips Laboratory on Edwards
Air Force Base, California, were examined for pollen remains. These sites have
the potential for being affected by activities associated with hazardous waste
investigations and remediation activities. Pollen analysis on these column
samples is used to provide information on the paleoenvironment and assess the
potential for future studies. Two flotation samples were also examined from a
possible deflated hearth to provide information concerning possible foods
processed in this feature. In addition, several artifacts from these sites were
analyzed for possible protein residues. Immunological studies have shown that
blood residues from a tool's surface can be identified using modified forensic
procedures involving the antigen-antibody reaction. Analysis of protein residues
is used to provide prehistoric subsistence information and possible artifact
specificity.
