VPRS 15888 Surveyors' Tracing Books, Geelong Lands District (GRS 975)

This record series comprises two volumes of tracings by surveyors. They were prepared during the process of surveying parcels of land. Most of the tracings relate to applications by people for land under the various Land Acts.Information recorded includes the date on which the survey was completed and the name of the surveyor. It provides a description of the land and the names of people or organisations for whom the survey was conducted.The tracings are produced in pencil. Each of the volumes is indexed at the front. The index provides a reference to the names of the people or organisations with an interest in the land. It also provides a reference to areas where the land is situated.The system of arrangement is chronological by the date that the tracing was done. This could be done within days of completion of the survey or it could be some years later.
