Infection with negative-sense RNA viruses induces a common set of transcripts

Negative-strand RNA viruses (NSVs) are responsible for a substantial proportion of human infectious diseases. We systematically compared changes in cellular RNA levels after infection of HuH7 cells with nine different negative-strand RNA viruses of different virulence levels to reveal conserved patterns of host antiviral response. An app was developed to visualize the results of time-resolved differential gene expression analysis, allowing comparisons between single or multiple viruses. A core set of commonly regulated genes should be identified and described.
