Exploring the Impact of Eggshell Waste as a Soil Amendment in Soil Biosolarization: Microbial Community Dynamics, Soil Health, and Gas Emissions

This study explores the use of eggshell waste (ESW) as a sustainable soil amendment in soil biosolarization (SBS), a practice that combines solar heat and organic materials to suppress pathogens and weeds while improving soil health. Using a laboratory-scale simulation, we assessed the effects of ESW on soil microbial community dynamics, nutrient profiles, gas emissions, phytotoxicity, and weed seed inactivation under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. These findings highlight the potential of repurposing ESW for SBS applications, contributing to sustainable agriculture and effective organic waste management.
