Costumes of authority. The image of royalty and clergy in Christian Nubia

This is a repository of raw data associated with a research project that analyses the relationship between the royal court and the church in Christian Nubia. The research focuses on the representations of the court and church officials, particularly their official attire. The main source of metadata in this collection, as well as a tool for further analysis (in association with the planned publication), is a database that contains all Nubian paintings depicting kings, royal mothers, bishops, clergy, and nobility. The database contains icons and data concerning provenance, dating, and all elements of the costumes, as well as related bibliography.
